This privacy policy explains how Talking Italy (talkingitaly.com) collects and uses personal information. Talking Italy is operated by Bailgater Digital, based in the United Kingdom (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are the controller of the personal data described here.
What we collect
- Contact form messages. If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address and message so we can reply.
- Analytics data. With your consent, we use Google Analytics (through Google Site Kit) to understand how visitors use the site: pages viewed, approximate location, device and browser type, and how you arrived. This uses cookies.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider and security tools automatically process IP addresses and browser information to deliver the site and keep it secure.
- Cookie choices. We store your cookie consent choice in a cookie so we don’t ask again on every page.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
- To reply to your messages: our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
- To measure and improve the site with analytics: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To run and secure the site: our legitimate interest in keeping the site working and safe.
- To meet legal obligations, where they apply.
Affiliate links
Some links on Talking Italy are affiliate links. When you click one, the partner’s website (hotel booking, tour and travel insurance providers) may set its own cookies to record that you came from us. Those partners are responsible for their own data use; please read their privacy policies. See our affiliate disclosure.
Who we share data with
We don’t sell your personal data. We share it only with service providers that help us run the site: Hostinger (website hosting), Google (analytics, with consent), WPForms (contact form) and our email provider for replies. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where they do, the transfer is protected by UK-approved safeguards such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages: up to 12 months after we reply, unless we need them longer for an ongoing conversation.
- Analytics data: up to 14 months, then deleted automatically.
- Cookie consent records: up to 12 months.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. To use any of these rights, contact us through our contact page. We will reply within one month.
If you’re unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We’d appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Cookies
We use cookies for analytics and to keep the site working. You can block or delete cookies at any time in your browser settings.
Children
Talking Italy is not aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data.
